A good day. Alias exhibition opening, women's day and birthday.

Hello there. ^^

I assume most people thought I have given upon this blog already. Not quite true. But I think during these past weeks that involved a week in London, LFW, 38 hours awake at once and preparing for an art exhibition I sorted out in myself what this blog is for me and what attitude it requires. This blog is a record of my journey through fashion and everything connected. It is not a strive for fame or for popularity. So I don't need to worry about those non-existent fans, who demand posts every day. I post when I can, when I want and my friends will read it when they can or want.

So I have loads to tell you about London and the fashion week but I will just move chronologically back and start with today.
Today was a good day. I have been doing 2 short courses at Gray's School of Art, RGU, Aberdeen in the past 6 months, which were finished and summed up today in an exhibition opening with all short course works.

With the spirits of international women's day (as I am bit of a feminist) and of a sunny day I drifted (rather rush pedalled) to my exhibition opening to welcome friends and cheer over amazing art works and free strawberries.**

So some of my work:

Delicate power

The love for Dior’s 50s New Look...the capture by a sleek military style...the vibrant impressions of powerful Mediterranean and oriental motives...were inspirational ideas, that seemed impossible to combine...until the moment I beheld Dior’s hourglass shape in Turkish caftans and noticed the use ofmilitary motives, golden buttons and embellishment on traditional Greek clothing. Suddenly it all went together. Military referencing could adorn feminine garments and embellishment followed those vibrant flower motives from the East. Imagination was embodied in soft flannel and shinny taffeta to create a powerful and individualistic, yet a delicate and feminine look.

I had to hand-sew many parts of this cape which made my appreciate haute-couture even more. I cannot wait to start wearing it. :)

Shadows of her life

Hi. You might ask now: well, what is this? ‘A piece of art’? Abstract forms? Well. I am days of sunshine, weeks of joy and months of inspiration. I am reflection on the canal, Sunday picnic in the park and dancing on the green grass. I am a peaceful morning at work, the touch on the warm sand and the flower in the sun. I am walls, doors and fences, the cooling relief and moments of pause. I am the silent side of friend’s laugh and the magic behind simple object. I am moments of her life, a piece of her heart, a part of her soul. And wherever I have gone and been to, there has been sun, the source of life.

Scarves are not my work, only the right hand side bit is my creation.

This is a T-shirt pattern, where I used two of the shadows to create abstract patterns.

Other work along the course I created as practice.
And others' works and creations that captured my eye and mind in this exhibition...

These are amazingly delicate in real, I would love to have them and be brave enough to wear them. Pure beauty.

After such a good and inspiring start of the day we celebrated with pizza and cake my flatmate's birthday.

Hope you had a good day as well. What inspired you today?

peace
